Bio
Carolina Barbosa is a senior health economist at RTI International in the Health Economics Program. Barbosa earned a PharmD from the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2005), and a MSc (2006) and PhD (2010) in Health Economic from the University of York, UK. Her research focuses on the economic evaluation of health care programs. She has specific interests in the evaluation of interventions to address substance use (opioids and alcohol), the application of statistical and decision-analytic methods, epidemiological modeling, and the economics of addiction. Her work has included developing simulation models and conducting cost-effectiveness analyses of interventions to address excessive alcohol consumption and opioid misuse. She has led analyzes of primary and secondary data, including data from national surveys and randomized controlled trials.
