Peter Friedmann is a primary care internist, addiction medicine clinician and established addiction health services researcher whose research examines the organization of addiction treatment services across the substance abuse treatment, medical and criminal justice systems. Friedmann is the associate dean for research at the University of Massachusetts Medical School - Baystate as well as the chief research officer for Baystate Health. He serves as a professor of Medicine and Quantitative Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is a fellow of the ASAM and American College of Physicians, a past president of the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA), and associate editor of the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and formerly serves as specialty director to the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
