Bio
Richard E. Nelson is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and the co-director of the Health Economics Core at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Utah. He is also a research health scientist and investigator in the IDEAS Center at the VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System. Dr. Nelson is a health economist with extensive experience in evaluating programs designed to increase access to medications to treat opioid use disorder as well as to address health-related social needs including homelessness and food insecurity.
