Bruce Schackman serves as the director of CHERISH and the CHERISH Administrative Core, providing strategic oversight on the center’s research priorities. Schackman is the Saul P. Steinberg Distinguished Professor and Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine. He conducts economic evaluations of the comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of health interventions conducted alongside clinical trials and cohort studies, including simulation modeling studies, particularly relating care for substance use and infectious diseases. He has been contact PI for several R-level NIDA-supported studies, including studies of naloxone distribution and harm reduction strategies to address the opioid crisis and to improve the health of people who use drugs with or at risk for HCV and HIV; a health economics investigator for the HEALing Communities Study; and contact PI for a NIDA-supported annual workshop on opioid simulation modeling.
